Tony Horne
Tony Horne: Ghostwriter, Editor, Podcaster
With over 30 books to his credit, Tony is one of the most in demand ghostwriters in the UK. A versatile writer, but notably a True Crime specialist, his career took off with the success of Tango 190 which he wrote for the late PC David Rathband, the officer gunned down by Raoul Moat. The memoir was a bestseller for Biteback, Britain’s leading publisher of political and current affairs titles. Not wanting to be a one trick pony, Tony switched genres and delivered Getting Over The X for the first X Factor winner, Steve Brookstein and Everybody Gets Fifteen Quid for former darts Number One, Shayne Burgess.
Tony’s passion, though remains real-life crime memoirs. He writes for men and women and from both sides of the law – those breaking it or enforcing it. Plus, of course, its victims. From undercover cops to the brother of the Moors Murders abductee Lesley Ann Downey, refugee smugglers to whistleblowers, Child and Witness Protection Officers to illegal aliens in the United States… and many, many more.
Tony began ghostwriting in 2008 after a frontline career in radio across the north of England, where for 25 years he fronted major market breakfast shows. He now prefers to podcast rather than broadcast. Amongst his credits are Truth of Lies (a Ministry of Defence cover-up) and The Rathband Tapes, recorded with David’s twin.
‘Radio gave me the ability to listen and take conversation to a new level. I bring these skills to your memoir. Your story is safe with me.’
His clients repeatedly state how he ‘gets’ them which empowers people to tell their stories, of which they have often barely spoken. His media background has been hugely beneficial in getting publicity for his subjects. Tony has a degree in French and Italian from Exeter University and continues to mentor students. In his free time, he watches Burnley FC, loves his cricket and likes to go on cruise holidays.
