AI Policy
Effective: July 2026
As a company, we, along with so much of the publishing industry, run and function exactly the same as we did before LLMs [‘Large Language Models’] and AI. We do not submit or release work to our clients, or to the publishing industry, or anywhere else, that is AI generated. This includes anything that has been AI generated and then edited leaving AI ‘residue’.
We do not permit the use of any LLM in the creation of written work in-house. Our writers are required to enter an agreement to ensure the work we deliver, either to our clients or to the industry, is written and/or edited by us without AI involvement. This includes anything that has been edited after AI has created it, as this will still assume an AI tone no matter how well it has been edited.
In light of the above, we now require prospective and existing clients to disclose details of AI usage for any content they provide us.
Ideally, the material provided to LGC would not be the result of anything generated by any LLM or its equivalent. But, if the content has been AI generated, or partially AI generated, we require this information to be disclosed, including details of what tools have been used, and to what extent (any writing, editing, drafting, rewriting, paraphrasing, summarising or outlining).
We reserve the right to assess and scrutinise incoming material for AI usage either before work begins or once work is underway. We then reserve the right to terminate any work and end any ongoing agreement if things prove likely to be unworkable because of AI usage.
Spellcheck and non-generative AI tools are permitted. LGC also appreciate that given the nature of the internet and how LLMs are often embedded into search that some reasonable amount of ideation is both inevitable and unavoidable in the creation of written work.
If you are a client or prospective client and you have uncertainty about any of the terms or points made in this policy or what you are required to do, it is important that you contact us about it.
This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the requirements and expectations of the industry.
