Julian Wilkins
Julian Wilkins is an experienced solicitor and notary public. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and CEDR accredited commercial mediator. Julian has an M.Phil degree in tort and economic loss and a Diploma in EU law. Julian has extensive civil litigation and advisory experience relating to media, intellectual property, technology including renewable energy, Chancery and commercial issues that includes some insolvency related disputes.
He has a particular interest in legal, economic, and industry led subjects particularly concerning creative, automotive, blockchain, artificial intelligence and financial industries.
He has always had a keen interest for writing and journalism. Julian edited the ITN 1955 Club Newsletter for four years and remains its editor at large. Julian founded and edited Blue Pencil Magazine which was concerned with Intellectual Property law and the creative industries. He has written for various legal journals, including Lexology and other publications such as the Guardian the Independent, Automotive EV, Broadcast and the EU’s Audio-Visual Observatory’s legal update newsletter, IRIS.
Since 2011, Julian has been responsible for the London Screenwriters’ Festival’s legal clinic.
Julian lectured the final year commercial law students at the University of Sussex providing written contributions to the Westminster Media Forum.
He is an annual guest speaker on University of Reading’s post graduate degree course on Legal and Economic Aspects of Intellectual Property Law, Fintech and AI in Financial Markets, and Smart Contracts and Privacy Issues in Financial Technologies.
Julian has been involved in various scriptwriting competitions and is a member of The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain and has The Royal Court Theatre’s Writers’ Card.
