[‘LGC’, ‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’]

For the purposes of this Declaration, you are any contractor, freelancer, in-house writer, member of staff or intern [any of the ‘Writers’] working with, at or for LGC and referred to in this Declaration as: ‘writer/s’, ‘you’ or ‘your’.

For any of the writers who are in Contract with LGC, this Declaration acts as a supplemental and is incorporated into the Contractor’s original Contract.

Declaration of Original Work

Original Work

You declare the work provided to LGC constitutes original work and is not the result of anything generated by any AI LLM [‘Large Language Model’] or its equivalent. You declare the work produced in any form and in any medium for LGC [including for the clients of LGC] has not been created by any other person [whether or not pursuant to contract] or party or LLM.

Understanding

You understand that LGC are paying to solicit your original work and that the act of submitting AI-generated writing to LGC may damage business operations, reputation and place LGC in breach of their own contracts with their clients. The writer thus indemnifies LGC against losses arising from any provable breach relating to AI-related misrepresentation.

History of Usage

If it is found that any work is likely to have been produced by any AI LLM or its equivalent, the writer acknowledges and consents to LGC having the right to audit the work as is reasonably necessary.

If the audit identifies any real history of usage then LGC shall be entitled to withhold monies due to be paid for the corresponding work. In the event LGC has already paid the writer in respect of the work, LGC shall be entitled to claim repayment for all or part of such payment.

You confirm that you have been invited to share key details where you have previously subcontracted work out to any other party including to any LLM.

Permitted Use

For the avoidance of doubt permitted use excludes any: writing, editing, drafting, rewriting, paraphrasing, summarising or outlining generated by any LLM.

Spellcheck and non-generative AI tools are permitted. Transcription software is permitted to transcribe interviews into text only.

LGC also appreciate that given the nature of the internet and how LLMs are often embedded into search that some reasonable amount of ideation is both inevitable and unavoidable in the creation of written work. If in doubt, writers are advised to request permission to use any LLM in any context.

Governing Law

This Declaration shall be governed by and understood in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, whose courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

Acceptance

Acceptance is confirmed by writing your Full Name and ticking the acceptance box provided. If acceptance is not confirmed, the act of continuing to provide any service to LGC shall constitute acceptance of this Declaration.

Update to Terms

This Declaration may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in services, the law, or industry requirements. The current version will determine the Declaration which will be indicated by its effective date at the top of this page. If you are required to review and re-declare any commitment to any amended version you will first be requested to do so.
